Letter agate takes its name from the dark markings that wander across its creamy surface like lines of handwritten script — and no two stones ever spell out the same pattern. Ours is cut from rough found in East Java, where skilled Indonesian lapidaries orient each slice to show the natural 'writing' at its best, mostly as cabochons ready for setting, with tumbled stones too.
